Jonathan Edwards

Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) was an influential colonial New England pastor, theologian, and philosopher. He was a central participant in the Great Awakening revival that swept the American colonies in the 1730’s.  After a lifetime of ministry, he ended his career as president of Princeton. His life ended at the relatively young age of 54, victim of the side effects of a smallpox vaccination.

Edwards’ life was dedicated to preserving biblical faithfulness in the face of growing Unitarian and secular sentiments.  He is a pivotal life in the journey from colonial Puritanism toward the American Revolution.  More at Wikipedia
