We visited the weekly Farmer's Market in downtown Austin last Saturday. The Ardoin family visited our church recently. They farm about 10 acres near Moulton and bring their harvest to Austin Saturdays and Wednesdays.
The trends towards immense corporate farms, vast government subsidies, and reliance on importing food from offshore must someday stall and reverse. These remnants of a once vital local agricultural economy are part of the solution or at least are markers to the way back to where we jumped the rails.
